Today, 5 days shy of a new year; I took a reflective look at where I was and visualized where I wanted to be, this time next year. In essence, I contemplated on the year ahead and focused on those goals, objectives and action steps I could utilize to get me there in 365 days. More than just another New Year’s resolution, this process resulted in a clear goal that I could 1.) VISUALIZE myself achieving and 2.) One I could BELIEVE IN wholeheartedly, without question. Whether these goals manifest themselves according to plan or not, my job is to believe in them wholeheartedly, and in my ability to carry them out without question.
“When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.” – Walt Disney
The problem is so many of us can’t see ourselves achieving our true dreams, hopes or desires and because we can’t envision them, we don’t believe them. Because we can’t see ourselves as the next Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga or Mark Zuckerberg, for example, we don’t believe it’s possible for us to become the next teenage heart-throb, the most nominated pop-star in VMA history, revolutionizing pop music, or the youngest, self-made billionaire. And because we don’t believe it, we will never realize it. When we decide to wholeheartedly believe in something, we must rid ourselves of all doubt and believe in its manifestation no matter what obstacle, detour or diversion may come our way.
What are your 2011 dreams? Not your resolutions, but your dreams? Will you resolve to believe implicitly and unquestionably in your ability to realize your dreams this year?
